Lingerie Football League Australia Announces Open Tryouts

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Thursday 10 May, 2012:  With less than a month until the whistle blows marking the much anticipated start to the Lingerie Football League All-Star Game Tour, the Eastern and Western Conference teams have flexed their muscles by announcing their squads who will suit up and go head to head on the field come Saturday 2 June at Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Saturday 9 June at Allphones Arena in Sydney. The LFL is also pleased to announce the details of the open tryouts for the 2013 Lingerie Football League Australia teams.

The rivalry between the East Coast and West Coast of America is one that stretches back generations, much like the rivalry between Queensland and New South Wales, and with the Rugby League State of Origin Series underway during the All-Star tour, alliances have been formed. With Queensland’s own Chloe Butler captaining the Western Conference Team naturally their loyalty is with the Maroons leaving the Eastern conference happily aligning themselves with underdogs the Blues.

Chloe, or The Great White Shark, as she is commonly referred to by both teammates and opponents alike will be leading the troops of the Western Conference onto the battlefield. The Wide Receiver and Defensive End of the LFL’s LA Temptation will be joined by a squadron of the League’s buffest beauties, with Ashley Salerno, Nikki Johnson, Ogom  Chijindi, Anne Erler, Christine Moore, Jessica Hopkins, Melissa Margulies, Briawna Shultz, Chrisdell Harris, Tessa Barrera, Sunshine Misa, Kam Warner, Tamica Estrella, Amber Reed, Cydney Froelich and Ericka Smith.

Chloe has said "I can't wait to play matches on home turf! I’ll be firing up our team to fly the maroon flag, I’ll be instilling the Queensland spirit in my team and we’re going to dominate those Eastern Conference girls from the moment they touch down in Brisbane. We're so ready to rumble, Australia!"

LFL’s two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time All-Star of the Tampa Breeze, tough talker Liz Gorman will be captaining the Eastern Conference. Not easily intimidated by Chloe’s supposed home ground advantage, Liz and her team of Saige Steinmetz, Tamara Fennell, Lauran Ziegler, Jaleesa McCrary, Jenna Roberson, Kyle Dehaven, Vonshari Hoardes, Ashley Helmstter, Jena Rae Weiss, Theresa Petruziello, Courtney Wilder, Julie Rolfe, Bryn Renda, KK Matheny, Christy Bell and Angela Perfetto have sass and skill in spades and they’re saving it all for the playing field.

“I’ve heard Butler rambling on about State of Origin and how they are going to dominate us like true Queenslanders do to their opposition. Well I’m not ready to be dominated by her or anyone else.  We’ll be representing New South Wales and we sure as hell won’t hesitate to bring back the biff, and hopefully squash a few cane toads along the way!” said Liz Gorman, captain of the Eastern Conference team.

Taming the wild aggression of these 33 players is no mean feat, so the LFL has enlisted some of the most experienced and respected coaches of the League to be at the helm of each team. Five-time Lingerie Bowl winning coach David Bizub (LA Temptation) together with 2012 Coach of the Year and three-time All-Star coach, Chris Michaelson (Seattle Mist) will be calling the shots at the Western Conference. 2011 Coach of the Year and four-time All-Star coach, Chandler Brown (Philly Passion) will be joined by two-time All-Star coach and former NFL player Yo Murphy (Tampa Breeze) at the Eastern Conference.

LFL Australia is set to premiere in its inaugural season in December 2013 with franchise teams in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. And for Australia’s female athletes brave enough and fit enough to step up and give this exciting new sport a go, the LFL has announced details of the Open Tryouts for LFL Australia. Mitch Mortaza, Chairman and Founder of LFL says “there has been huge interest shown by prospective players in Australia since we announced the All Star games a month ago. To capture the interest and excitement we are bringing forward our scheduled open tryout sessions to the week before each game in Australia”.

First up, Brisbane will hold an open tryout on Thursday, 31 May, at Brisbane Entertainment Centre (address below) from 7.00pm to 10.00pm.  A second open tryout will be held in Sydney on Thursday, 7 June, at Allphones Arena (address below), again from 7.00pm to 10.00pm.  Tryouts for Melbourne and Perth will be announced later in the year.

LFL Australia strongly encourages prospective players to come prepared to participate in strength, speed and agility drills.  Players’ attire is athletic wear (sports bra and shorts) with cleats/studs.  In addition, athletes are asked to bring a current photo (to leave behind) and to arrive at least one (1) hour prior to the scheduled start time.
