Red Hot Chilli Peppers Announce Support Act

Details

Joining RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS on their instantly sold-out Australia 2019 tour will be the one and only Grandfather of Funk, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic.

By arrangement with the Byron Bay Bluesfest, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic will be very special guests at Red Hot Chili Peppers Australian shows this summer (**not appearing in Hobart).

Parliament Funkadelic mastermind, George Clinton’s greatest achievement has been his relentless dedication to funk, notably the unique and easily identifiable style affectionately called P-Funk.

Revolutionizing R&B during the ’70s, Clinton’s distinct sound experienced a resurgence by the end of the ’80s as a generation of rappers reared on P-Funk were beginning to name check him. Clinton has since been featured by or collaborated with numerous artists including Prince, Primal Scream, 2Pac, Outkast, Blackalicious, Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino. He is considered one of the most sampled artists ever.

The Chili Peppers’ love and respect for George Clinton goes back more than three decades with the P-Funk legend producing the band’s early funk period album, 1985’s Freaky Styley.

George Clinton will be saying a Funk-a-thon farewell to the land down under as he returns to play his last ever Australian tour this April. Together with Parliament Funkadelic, George Clinton will headline shows in the Enmore Theatre, Sydney on April 20 and The Forum, Melbourne on April 25 around his performance for the 30th Anniversary Bluesfest.

Live Nation has worked with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ production team in making it possible to release additional tickets for most shows.

A final 500 tickets will be released for all Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane shows, as well as 200 tickets in Hobart.
