The 2019 Schools Spectacular returns to Sydney and Qudos Bank Arena in November!

This annual event will again wow audiences with the stellar talents of students from right across NSW.
This much-loved and extraordinary event celebrates youth, education, culture, diversity and young Australian talent and will be held at QUDOS BANK ARENA, Sydney Olympic Park on 22 and 23 November, 2019. Tickets on sale NOW through Ticketek.

STARS is the theme for the 2019 show. Each and every one of the 5,500 performers are stars!
They each have their moment to shine. They each take to the stage so proudly to demonstrate their talents, their beliefs and their identity. Their faces light up with pride and achievement. We celebrate their uniqueness in the universe. Whilst each has their own strength it is together that they shine the brightest and have the biggest impact.

Through a variety of styles of music and dance and a contemporary showcase of excellence and inclusivity; through glitz, glamour, achievement and sophistication; through comedy, creativity and dramatic intent the Spectacular is a world-class arena show that blows the audience’s minds about the value of our kids, the arts and public education.

This year’s event will feature over 370 schools, 50 solo performances (known as Featured Artists), a 2,800-strong choir; 2,300 dancers; an 80-piece symphony orchestra; a world-class stage band and a cast of thousands as public school students from metropolitan, rural and remote regions of NSW, from varying ages, cultures, skills and socio-economic backgrounds share the spotlight.

“If stars are the landmarks of the universe, the Schools Spectacular stars are the guiding lights of our future”.
John Foreman returns as compere for the Schools Spectacular.  John has been part of the Spectacular for over 30 years. He first participated as a performer in school in 1987 and has been back every year since. “When I was in Year 10, I couldn’t believe that I’d been given the chance to perform in front of 10,000 people at Spec. It was life changing, and a moment I’ll never forget.”

Specfest will also return as part of the pre-show entertainment at Qudos Bank Arena.   Since its launch in 2016, SpecFest has become a quintessential part of the Schools Spectacular experience. It’s a place for families to enjoy two hours of pre-show entertainment. There are also food and beverage stalls and a sports zone. It’s a great way to relax and enjoy some of the open spaces of Sydney Olympic Park.
Hundreds of Schools Spectacular participants over the years have gone on to become professional musicians, singers, dancers, actors, designers, producers and musical directors.

Alumni include Human Nature, Paulini, The McClymonts, Felicity Urquhart, David Le’aupepe, Anja Nissen and Jai Waetford. Many current performers have just appeared in or are appearing in professional music theatre productions.
